Artists experimenting is nothing new in hip-hop. This has been going on for quite some time but it allows an artist more creative freedom and for them to step outside of the box. They’re able to explore new sounds and new flows thanks to different melodies and blending genres. Washington’s Sunny D. Light dropped his first project in April of this year and has returned with some new sounds on “On My Soul” today.
Sunny enlists the help of FRVR for the experimental production on this one. He’s able to blend his flow with the haunting sound of 808’s and scantily sounding strings. The heavy synths help bring the song to life as Sunny tells us about wanting to put his home town of Bellingham on the hip-hop map. This track is the first in a string of new ones with a different type of sound that he’ll be releasing over the next few weeks. Check it out below.
